RECLAIM THE NAME

The flyer has been updated

Just to clear up this whole Fakenger thing on the flyer. When I was still in Glasgow there was usually a prize for first non-messenger in alleycats and we encouraged anyone who wanted to race to come and take part. This was before the F word had been invented so we just called them " Hey You! " but I'm not alone in quite liking the term Fakenger, but not for use in a derogatory way. I think it perfectly sums up someone who's never worked as a courier but likes coming to Al**ycats and whatnot and most of the regulars at Millportpoloco have no problem with the term*. So like the Gays did with "Queer" I think it's time to Reclaim the Name because, like it or not, it's here to stay. So we're going to try and turn it into a positive thing, the first step being to re-introduce the first non-messenger prize category that way there can be no confusion as to who is allowed to enter the race.
Being sponsors of the race we thought we'd better ask over at Hell Yeah if they were ready to get behind our plans. Their response:
" I dunno... "
It was an email exchange so we're not sure what tone of voice it was supposed to be read in so we'll just take it as a wholehearted endorsement of our hair brained scheme, and if it all backfires I think we can consider ourselves in the clear.
£3 entry for everyone cos it not just couriers suffering from the recession.

We did get permission from Dublin Messengers HQ to use the Massacre name.

*Unless I'm just so insensitive I don't notice their tears through the rain.
